I have been so burdened and heartbroken about all of these parish closings. How is the Gospel going to be present in these urban areas with the closing of so many parishes? I don't know if this has been discussed already, but I feel as if we should consider purchasing these properties and keeping them open as centers of outreach and evangelism. Obviously they could not be sacramental ministries without a Priest, but we as the laity have a responsibility to reach our community for Christ. These Church communities need to remain united and these buildings are a visible presence of Christ in the community. Is this possible? I welcome all of your wisdom and prayers in this matter.
